While the ads are a bad attempt at trying to reach our demographic I do think its a step up from how the music is usually used. Most often electronic music is used as the generic beat to cut picture to..(I know this well because its part of my job). But the Ford ads give substance to the music, and a specific genre at that. It may sound stupid but alot of people don't know the difference between the Detroit techno and say Chicago's deep house....even when listening to it. Most people view electronic music as one blob, its all the same. Maybe I'm putting to much into this but the fact that Ford is identifying their music, bringing away from the soundtrack and saying that this music acctually has meaning and history...its a commercial culture recognition of pride in something great that came out of Detroit. Personally I enjoy the regonalism of music and how different cities have different sounds, its a new expression of culture....Places like Chicago pride themselves with their Blues and Jazz heritage, someday I think they should have as much pride for their House music.

Yes Ford is trying to get our money in the end, but look at what we are getting....bigger sponcership for the EMDF ensuring its pressence and giving it more money for more talent...Producers making alittle more money and getting recognition...And electronic music as a whole being used as more then just "dance" music or a quick beat to cut a Trailor to.
