Plenty of good people & good music to go around.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Saturday I arrived at JAM On It to some
technical nightmares.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>The floor
boards were way too bouncy & the needles would have skipped all night. <span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>A quick run to the store for some duct
tape & rubber bands & all was okay.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Thanks to Zack Hill on that one,
otherwise there would have been some very upset people.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>After the short delay while we got it
ready, </span></font><st1:City><st1:place><font size=2 face=Arial><span
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>Joplin</span></font></st1:place></st1:City><font
size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> started off
the night nice & funky, dropping some great tracks, pretty cleanly mixed. <span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>A lot of energy in the room.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>I could only stay a few minutes into Emi’s
set as I had to work, but from what I’m told, the VinylTribe room rocked
it all night long.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>The holiday Monday
meant there were some nice options for Sunday.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>At the recommendation of my roommate, we
headed over to a place I never would have guessed I’d set foot in.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>The atlas club for beat it.. Its an 80s
club and it was just fun to hear some of those great tracks that just get ya
singin along.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>From there we left
for Deep to see Timmy Regisford.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>
</span>When we got there, he was laying it down real nice, but after a few
mixes started dropping the bass out for awhile at a time, messing with the
volume, etc… Took away the energy from the set, for me anyway.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>But the night was not over.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>We made it to Studio 56 for “In
Love.”<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Sound always ends up
nice at that venue, and last night was no exception.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>We arrived in time to see Wally play. <span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Now normally Wally is a pretty sure
thing.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Something was wrong
though.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>No mixing whatsoever,<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>He’d simply mix in for between
4-16 beats, not even always matched well, and just force the next track in by slamming
the lows over it….<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>He played
some slammin cuts, but it wasn’t enough to make me forget the apparent <span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>apathy for mixing.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Fester was up next & immediately brought
up the level of play.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>His mixing
& track selection were on-point, dropping some nice funky breaks for about
an hour of his set. <span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Then he
finished us off with about a half hour of house.. Special thanks for dropping
Funkatarium…<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span><o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
