it goes in cycles...</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Here's my Observation:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Being from San Diego.. I have this weird
expectation everytime I party in LA. For some reason, whenever I walk into
an LA gig, i have this automatic stereotype that everyone attending that party
is from the Dynagroove list. But the reality is, there are people there
that attend through word of mouth...other marketing tactics etc.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I guess my point is.. .as a promotor / dj... one
shouldn't completely rely on the dynagroove list to pull crowds of 200+. Indeed,
sometimes it seems like that is the case. I'll see someone
advertise an event on the dynagroove list...then a week later they're
back complaining that only 5 people attended. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>It's almost like there's this reservoir of (say)
2000 house heads. And every week, the same promotors are competiting to
get those same househeads to go to THEIR party. Target people that
don't "know", and that are open-minded enough to want to learn more about house
music...As a DJ, i can honestly say that sometimes those are the funnest
crowds to play for. But on the flip side, there's nothing more
refreshing than a room full of househeads that know when to whistle or shout
whenever there's a change in tempo, a break down, a subtle chord change in
the bassline, a soulful vocal...a jazzy riff....etc. It goes both
ways.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Again, i'm not a promotor...that's just my 2
cents.</FONT></DIV>
