[Groop]clarification

OK, let me clarify my comments on the fanboy topic.

I am a nobody where comics are concerned.  But I have had the good fortune
to do a couple of book signings with my work.  Never having done that
before, I didn't know what to expect.

Now, the majority of people who turned out were kids, who were really cool,
fun to talk to etc. (even though they were as fierce as rabid wolves once
my time was up and their Pokemon tournament was scheduled to replace me!)  

 The next group of people who showed up were young adults like myself who
were also cool to talk to, I did some drawings in people's sketchbooks and
had a good time.

Then I got people like this:

In one shop a 40 year old guy  who hung around the store for 6 hours, tried
to engage me in a conversation about which female superhero I'd like to
sleep with....Keep in mind MY WIFE is standing next to me, and he's using
words Eric would have a coronary over.   He tried to talk about this
repeatedly and was visually excited about this topic.  He also tried to
make me give him an original art piece I had done of a nude model.  This
guy was a freak.

In the other shop I went to there was a boy of about 15 who actually
screamed at me when I told him I didn't really like anything Marvel was
putting out.  He has problems.  The same shop also had a guy  who was
wearing a shirt dappled with food (who knows how old) and smelled like funk
so bad my partner actually had to leave the store for a few minutes after
the guy moved away from my table.

Now, again, I'm a nobody in comics.  And if I've encountered these people,
I can sympathize with what creators who are well known have to smile
through at a convention.

I'm not saying these people are lesser humans than I, I'm saying these poor
people choose to miss out on life, interacting with society, in exchange
for a fantasy world.
