YES! A CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES! A Masterpiece of Idiocy! A MUST for Groo Fans.
I do believe it is time to reread that one!!!

Toole had reportedly been hawking his book to publishers for a long time, and
apparently never told his friends and family about it. Distraught, he took
his own life. Months (I think, perhaps even a year or two???) later, his
mother was cleaning out his closet and discovered the manuscript and the
rejection letters. If I'm remembering it properly, she practically bullied a
publisher into printing it.

True, all the characters in the book were on some level unsympathetic or
downright unlikeable, yet the story is engrossing. If you give it a chance, I
think you'll find the book something of a guilty pleasure! NEXT...

Another goody, I read two or three of these about 10 years ago and haven't
thought of them since, a delightfully silly parody of Military Space
Adventures.
