[Groop]NOTICE OF REVOCATION OF INDEPENDENCE
Thu, 16 Nov 2000 13:43:18 -0600
By God, I've been hoisted on my own petard! The Groo was mine.
I didn't know the actual conversion rate between litres and gallons, which
is why I was using approximations. If 3.7 litres equals a gallon, then the
price is $4.662 to $4.995 per gallon. I was equating one litre to one
quart in my original estimation.
The most common price I saw was 88 pence, so let's use that shall we?
88p * 1.5 = $1.32 per litre
$1.32 * 3.7 = $4.884 per gallon
Still rawther expensive, eh wot?

I always thought it was 3.7 litres/gallon which would put it at $3.11 to
$3.33 per gallon, but perhaps I Groo'd.

I just returned from London, and the price there is 84 to 90 pence per
litre. In American terms, that's approximately $1.26 to $1.35 per quart,
or $5.04 to $5.40 per gallon.
Ergo, $5.00 a gallon is roughly correct. If we must convert, please
And Americans complain about high gas prices. Sheesh!
