This time of year is very busy for retail advertising,
so since I have to work every other Saturday in
November and December (at no cost to the company, of
course), I decided dress code be damned and wore my
Gary Grossman Special DID I ERR? shirt to work. I got
a great reaction from amused coworkers and bosses
alike, since this time of year with our greatly
increased holiday workload we are MUCH more likely to
have mistakes see print.
(One of my favorite mistakes to see print was a full
page ad in the New York Times from a couple of years
ago which declared in huge letters across the top
50% OFF ALL DYED FUR CATS)
Anyway, nine out of ten people read the shirt as DID I
ERR? (Rhymes with Burr) instead of DID I ERR? (Rhymes
with AIR). I took great juvenile pleasure whenever
someone read my shirt aloud by responding, "I don't
know, did you?" Hey, a groan is as good as a laugh in
