Hi gang,
I finally got my statue of Groo (#486 (ain't cursed
with computers ? I
could have at least received #686 !!)). Man it's
beautiful ! I love it.
I have no authenticity certificate, but I think my
dealer just forgot to
give it to me... (hope it's not a fake).
I turned it upside-down (ain't I a Groo reader ?) and
saw a sticker :
"Made in China".
And here comes the great and terrible question :
Since this is a limited edition *hand-painted*
sculpture, was it
hand-painted by a bunch of 12 year old chinese kids ?
(you know, like
these Nike (or wa it Reebok ?) shoes... well, uh
nither of these are
hand-painted, though.)
Anyway, just wonderin'. And even if it were the case,
complaints should go
directly to Graphitti Designs... We have all read
Groo, and know what
Sergio and Mark think about this kind of things.
I think I should stop asking myself such questions. I
don't feel that
well, just after.
see you,

Hi Guys/Gurls!
Wasn't there supposed ta be a sketch or signature or
something like
that on the "certificate of authenticity" or "sticker
of authenticity"
or something like that?

I thought so. There's one sitting in the display
cabinet in a local
shop, and it's got the certificate sitting behind it.
Unfortunately, it's also got a little sticker on the
front saying
"$295", and my bank account has got a somewhat smaller
number of dollars
in it.

I thought they were originally $175, at least that's
what I paid. Yes, there's a certificate of
authenticity that Sergio signed and sketched Groo on.
Oh, and per Book's question, there was a Made in China
sticker on the bottom of my statue as well as Made in
China on the bottom of the box.

They were, in US dollars. $175 US is about $235
Australian, and the
shop has got to have it's little mark-up too ... A
comic that costs
$2.95 in the US costs $4.50-$5.00 here.
Don't matter, I probably wouldn't buy one anyway. I
can't really afford
that much, and I've got nowhere to put it either.

I have the best girlfriend in the world.
She just gave me my birthday present, and upon
unwrapping it, I
discovered that it contained...
A Groo statue.
The very same Groo statue that has been sitting in my
local comic shop
for the last 5 years, that I've been -> <- that close
to buying on so
many occasions, but have never really been able to
justify the cost.
But she bought it for me for my birthday, so now at
last I finally
have a Groo statue.
Like I said, I have the best girlfriend in the world.
:)
Later,
Denis.
