ME: Well, that's an interesting question, Gary. Yes, there were many
other voice actors in Warner Brothers cartoons -- Stan Freberg, June
Foray, Arthur Q. Bryan, Daws Butler, Bea Benaderet, etc., etc.. And
with a few exceptions, only Mel got credit, even on a few cartoons
where others did more voices than him. (Although usually, Mel did
most of the voices and around half of all WB cartoons featured only
him.)
Mel used to claim that he never knew why that was. Several of the
other voice actors came to believe that this was a fib and that Mel
had it put in his contract that no one could receive credit besides
him. There's no absolute proof of this but Mel was a pretty
competitive guy so it's not impossible to believe.
