I think I'm the ONLY 40 year old Godzilla fan in the
WORLD who has NEVER read an issue of Famous Monsters
of Filmland. I feel deprived. I just never knew it
existed!!!

However, my absolute FAVORITE magazine of my youth was
The Monster Times, which I devoured hungrily whenever
I could find one! I even wrote them looking for Toho's
address, so i could send them my script for Godzilla &
Son Meet King Kong & Son (Hey, I was 12 or 13!!!)

So there I was, working my way through the wealth of
funny and informative stories on Mark Evanier's
POV.com, and I decided to check out the HOLLYWOOD
banner for the first time. I was halfway through his
hysterical article about The Ambassador Hotel and the
Sci-Fi con with the Nude Woman and Wedding party, when
Mark made an off-hand comment that he was there to
cover the con as a journalist for...THE MONSTER
TIMES!!!

WHOA!!! More synchronicities!!!

I mean REALLY Mark, is there ANYTHING, I mean ANYTHING
you haven't done for fun and (slight) profit? You
really ARE the ultimate Fanboy, aren't you!? You've
just managed to leave me flabbergasted...AGAIN!!!

I remember a particularly funny one panel cartoon of
Godzilla on the telephone, saying something like
"Hello, Toho Take-out Service? Yes, I'm ready to place
my order now. I'll have some Kyoto, a slice of Tokyo
and a side order Osaka to go" (well, SOMETHING like
that).

Anyway, I've met tons of Famous Monsters of Filmland
fans, but the only people I've ever met who've even
HEARD of the Monster Times were fans I met at last
summer's GodzillaFest in Chicago.
