‘Journocide’ in the Sun, 256 axed

                    breaking news Ailing national daily The Sun today
sacked 256 of its
                    remaining 411 staff in one of the biggest
retrenchment exercises in
                    the country’s journalistic history.

                    The company’s new management today issued letters to
the
                    affected staff that their contract of service would
be terminated.

                    According to the company, the mass sackings were
part of its
                    overall measures to reduce operation costs, which is
currently
                    recording losses of about RM2 million a month.
