Hi Folks!
Today I received the four Croatian Groos that recently came out in a
children's magazine entiilted "BUM!" (pronounced "boom') They were only in
the first 4 and maybe that was the original plan, at least for now.
(another question for Sergio at the con.) The stories reprinted are Groo
#29-#32, which introduce Rufferto and so are perfect for a children's
magazine. Interestingly, the art is taken from the tradepaperback, not from
the comics. I could tell because on the first page of the comics there is a
strip of credits and stuff on the bottom. This is not needed in the TPB, so
in the DH TPB's Sergio adds a narrow strip of art that fits the story. I've
always thought this was very cool. Anywho, this is what is in the BUM!
reprints. (Then after I figured this out I saw that in BUM! #4 there was
something about Scott Allie and Mike Richardson and Dark Horse. They also
spelled Mark's name wrong after spelling it correctly the first three times.
Now that I have bored you to tears, here is more boring stuff about Turkish
Groos! I have decided that there was never a Turkish Groo 4, 5, or 6, as I
saw in some listing of Turkish comics. I have never had any other evidence
they existed and I have had a number of people looking extensively for me to
the point where one of them said one book store owner made a comment about
how many people were looking for this old and obscure comic. And while the
list I saw said there was one "Special," it turns out there were 4!!! Not 2
like I said the other night, but 4!!! Each one has precisely the same cover
(Epic #22), but "reprints" (tracings) of 4 different Groos comics in them,
(Epic #1-16). Very, very strange.
OK, enough esoteric Groo-minusia. Take care all -Gary G.
