GRAVY folks, gravy!
I've gotta agree with Nate there, and this extends to autographs
as well. It's REALLY NICE when folks are willing to do such
things, but fans shouldn't EXPECT IT, much less hound people or
act like it's somehow something they're owed!
Last year's San Diego Con was my first time ever asking for
sketches, and I only started doing so after seeing my two
buddies' brimming sketchbooks and their opinions that the ones
who did them seemed to be eager and willing, those that weren't
they didn't bother.
George Perez certainly seemed to be enjoying himself, and Dave
Gibbons was very friendly and personable. A couple of people said
they didn't do sketches, and I made sure I said "I understand
perfectly" and stayed and made pleasant conversation after the
"no". Some of my favorite conversations were with people who
didn't give sketches. Their choice, no problemo.
I had a blast getting the sketches I did, though, and was always
polite. I paid for a couple, too and was happy to do so.
