I got my t-shirt on Wed., I guess the release date for comic shops was th=
at day. I didn't get my hard cover yet (hope it is in this Wed.). To answ=
er your other question on why people are bidding over $20 on something th=
ey can readily order for $17, they are mendicants! =20
Some people were talking about how some artists do sketches, etc. Well, I=
always though that artists should ALWAYS personalize the sketch. I makes=
it VERY difficult to sell (The most recent personalized sketches went fo=
r very little on Ebay).
On a personal note, I met Mark and Sergio at a New York show in 1994 or 1=
995. My friend and I were the first ones in his line to get and autograph=
. As the line got larger (a paltry 10 or so. every one else wanted that "=
hot" Rob Lifield auto) I graciously allowed every one of the to get in fr=
ont of us so we could have Mark and Sergio all to ourselves. I had a free=
print with all the "Legend" creators (now "Maverick") and had Sergio dra=
w Groo and Rufferto in the palm of Big Guy's hand (short lived Big guy an=
d Rusty the robot by Frank Miller and Geoff Darrow). my friend then got S=
ergio to draw him a R2D2 on the Star Wars book featuring the card he drew=
with C3PO. I noticed that during this time NO ONE else had got into line=
and asked Sergio if he could draw some more on the print, and he looked =
at me weird and asked if this was for me, of course it was, so he drew me=
a Mighty Magnor across the top. I then asked Mark if he could have Groo =
saying something and he had a thought bubble over Groo saying "Why are we=
on a page for the wrong company? " and over Rufferto "Did he err?". Afte=
r that I was embarrassed to ask for any more sketches even though we stil=
l had them to ourselves. Mark if you are reading, THANKS again for making=
my day back in New York almost a decade ago. (and if I meet you and Segi=
o again I will bring it with me for some more sketches) (And lastly if Jo=
hn Byrne is reading this, I still need your autograph on this print as yo=
u were sick on the Sunday of that show, you can come over my house for di=
nner any time, is Wed. at about 7 O.K. with you?).
Thanks for listening Groop,
Regards,
Sean (I met Mark and Segio once) FerrisGet more from the Web. FREE MSN E=
