Yes.. I know that Iran is not Islam and Islam is not Iran... What I'm trying to
say is that as fasr as I know.. there was no gang rape and beating against women by
the authority after the revolution.. There might be some cases of rape and beating
carried out by gangsters or individuals as it was a bit chaostic after the
governemnt collapse and before the new government takes full controll but after the
new government takes control, Islamic law was imposed and Islamic law deal harshly
to rapist...
About the links you provided... I have nothing to say as I don't want to either
refute or to agree with the claim.. It might be true or it might be a false
accusation.. but one thing is.. as non Iranians... we should listen from both sides
for a balance judgement...
About the Iranian policies towards women is different to the Malaysian or to the
western world as they have their own culture with different culture.. we have a
different perception of how we treat women.. and eventhough they are muslim, they
comes frfom a different school as most Iranian are syiah muslims and we malaysian
are sunni muslim... it's like catholic and protestant and orthodox greeks.. (BTW. I
got some picture of Armenian christian orthodoxs who are praying like how muslims
are praying but there is some difference)..
In some areas maybe we see them as depressing women but actually they are being
protecting the women modesty.. for example the miss world competition... I think
the competition is an insult to women as it potraye women as sex objects to be
displayed for commercials purposes... and mostly all muslims think the same... that
why when miss world pagent was conducted in India.. women groups are protesting
the pagent and they are muslims, hindus, christian and other women...
About the claim that Islamic law discriominate women especially in Nigeria.. Amina
Lawal case for example.. I think both men and women recieve the same treatment by
the law if they go against it.. men are too are being stoned to death of they
commit adultry... not just women but the Amina lawal case, women groups had blown
it so that it potrays that Islamioc law discriminate women... where is men's right
groups...? we need one... to fight all men's right... (I'm a man...)
The difference is maybe how the law was and is being implemented.. and who is in
power... as most in powers are men.. so they tends to be biased on men... and
these people as you said are cowards... it happen in all coun tries.. even in the
US or europe... or asian... we men have ego... that's the cuplrit.. men's ego...
As what Charles de Montesquieu (US political structure is based on his
philosophy of saparation of power) said in his book "The Spirit of the
Law" as "The deterioration of every government begins with the decay of
the principles on which it was founded."... and this v includes discriminations
against women... it can be a christian, communist, secular, fasist, autocratic,
traditional government... what we can do to combat this is to impose check and
balance to the government.. to control the government... the big brother... (BTW..
In the news, pres. Bush had signed a new law to permit the "big brother" to watch
its citizens).
Lastly. quoting from some presentation slides floating in the internet....
1. Why when a nun covered her body frrom head to toe, she is being
respected for her submission to God but when a muslim woman do the same, she was
branded as being oppressed...?
2. Why when a western woman stay at home to look after the children, she
was regarded as sacrificed for her family but when a muslim woman do the same
thing, she need to be libertised....?
