[Groop] Groo Genre

Here's a question for literary-minded Groopiers (if that is not an oxymoron):

Do you think Groo qualifies as part of the fantasy genre?

I ask because I just got back from my first day in Literature 3980, "Science
Fiction and Fantasy." As part of the obligatory introductions, we were asked
our favorite sci-fi/fantasy book and movie. After I left class, I thought I
should have put Groo down as my favorite fantasy book. I am, of course,
dedicated to the proposition that no professor will slack off in my class, so I
would love to be able to incorporate reference that will make the prof think.
Could I make a case for Groo?
