The votes are in for the membership card, details in a
moment.

***IMPORTANT***
PLEASE DON'T SEND ME OR THE GROOP ANY EMAILS YET
SAYING YOU WOULD LIKE A CARD. I won't be saving such
emails, you'll have to wait until all approvals are in
and I send out a notice asking you to place your
order. THANKS!!!

Phase 1, now complete, was the exchange of ideas and
voting. THANKS ALL!!! I heard from 41 Groopies!!!

Phase 2 is getting Sergio & Mark's approval. I've sent
Mark an email, and we should know shortly whether or
not to continue.

Phase 3 will be working out specific production
designs, details and costs. I'll start this phase even
as I await word from the Groo Crew, but won't finalize
anything without their go-ahead.

Phase 4, printing and distribution! YIPPEE!

Okay, now to the tally, mon!

-------------------------------------------------

Occasionally someone voted for more than one thing, so
in most cases I counted both. Also, some people didn't
vote in every category. Some folks came up with new
options, and I appreciate the suggestions, but either
counted it as whatever seemed closest or didn't count
it at all.

-----------------------------------------------
First and foremost, how much are you willing to spend
for a Groop I.D. card?
1. $1-$2
 ---4 votes

2. $5
 ---17 votes ***TIED***

3. $10
 ---17 votes ***TIED***

4. other
 ---2 votes

I don't know why I even included "other' here, there's
a lot I should have done differently, but oh well.
Personally, I doubt it's going to cost more than $5
anyway! We'll see where it ends up, and IF NECESSARY
I'll seek your opinions with an actual bottom line
cost before we print!
-----------------------------------------------
Second and just as important:
1. All cards should be identical (much better value
and easier to produce, plus new Groopies could easily
obtain them without starting up the whole process all
over again!!!
 ---13 votes

2. All cards should have customized information like
member name, membership number, etc. (more fun, but
more costly, more time-consuming, so we may have to
skimp on production values, depending on how much
people are willing to spend).
 ---10 votes

3. Most cards should have customized information like
member name, membership number, etc., but we’d also
make up a large batch of generic cards to give out at
conventions and for new Groopies.
 ---17 votes ***WINNER***

Really, number 2 & 3 are effectively the same anyway,
so we go with customized cards and a run of generics
for future Groopies! We wouldn't relly just be
"handing them out" at conventions, it's more for
future Groopies and for Sergio to give out.

-----------------------------------------------
This should be called an
1. Official Groop Membership Card
 ---31 votes ***WINNER***

2. Official MULCH card
 ---1 votes

3. Official CHEESEDIP card
 ---0 votes

4. Official MENDICANT card
 ---7 votes

-----------------------------------------------
Card stock:
1. Business card stock or similar, NOT laminated, with
spaces for autographs.
 ---5 votes

2. Business card stock or similar, LAMINATED, but with
useless spaces for autographs anyway and text “not
valid unless signed”.
 ---12 votes

3. Business card stock or similar, LAMINATED, no
spaces for autographs.
 ---6 votes

4. Business card stock or similar, with pocket
laminate enclosed, to be ironed/sealed by member after
getting it autographed.
 ---16 votes ***WINNER***

5. Plastic credit card style (most expensive) with no
customized info.
 ---4 votes

6. Plastic credit card style (most expensive) with
customized info printed on clear label sheets.
 ---4 votes

The laminate enclosure is the most versatile option.
Anyone who doesn't want to have to iron it closed
themselves, well, we can DISCUSS having me iron it for
you!

-----------------------------------------------
Color
1. Jerkin Orange
 ---40 votes ***WINNER***
2. Cheese Dip Yellow
 ---2 votes
3. Mulch Brown
 ---0 votes
4. Black type on black background (please don’t really
vote for this, you know you want to!)
 ---2 votes

Was there ever any doubt???

-----------------------------------------------
Membership number format
1. None
 ---9 votes

2. GR00-xxxx-yyyy (where xxxx=year signed up for
Groop, yyyy is sequentially unique digits, such as
GR00-1997-0022)
 ---11 votes

3. GR00-xxxx-yyyy (where xxxx=year you started reading
GROO, yyyy is sequentially unique digits, such as
GR00-1986-0022)
 ---1 vote

4. Number and date separate, so GR00-0022. Member in
good standing since 1997.
 ---12 votes ***WINNER***

5. Number and date separate, so GR00-0022. GROO fan
since 1997.
 ---7 votes

-----------------------------------------------
Membership number options
1. Randomly assign sequence of unique numbers. Sergio,
Mark, Stan, Tom and Gordon would get digits 0001-0005,
Josh would get 0006 (since he is Our Founder) Ruben
would get 0007 (Since he's The First Groopie to sign
up, is that right?) and Gary would get 0008 (since
he's been publicly acknowledged by The Groo Crew -
even in print - as the Number One Groo Fan). Number
0009 would go to whoever takes charge and actually
makes up the cards, and after that it's randomly
determined.
 ---17 votes

2. Groopies get to pick a 4-digit number that is
meaningful to them on a first-come, first serve basis.
(a little bit harder to keep track and have them
printed up this way)
 ---3 votes

3. We’d all get the same serial number, just for
laughs. (something like:GROO-1982-0001)
 ---19 votes ***WINNER***

Close one, but the joke wins out. The number that I'm
going with is

GROO-SAMESSTLGK-DD1982-0001

The initials stand for Sergio Aragones Mark Evanier
Stan Sakai Tom Luth Gordon Kent. On the one card I
mocked out, the longer card number just looks better!
DD1982 is Destroyer Duck (first Groo, duhhh), and 0001
is the old first issue joke!!!

So close! Since 6 people gave suggestions for
combining the two, and since it was soooo close, I
tried combing the two in my mockup, but it got waaaaay
too busy combining all elements. Instead, I added the
www.groo.com next to the DID I ERR, but not THE GROOP,
since that's included in OFFICIAL GROOP MEMBERSHIP
CARD. I loved the "THIS CARD CERTIFIES..." copy, and
tried to keep it, but it was just too much!

NAME will allow 30 characters & spaces, so any combo
of name, nickname, country, etc.

FAVORITE CATCHPHRASE is anything you want up to 40
characters & spaces, whether it's a catchphrase,
country, whatever you want! Or just leave it blank, so
there's room for autograph (we'll talk more on that
shortly).

This area had the most people who voted for more than
one option; but even considering that MULCH was waaaay
ahead!. Most of the double votes were people who voted
for 4 & 5.

Concerning autographs, just because we didn't dedicate
space to getting the card signed, doesn't mean you
still can't! This remains a good options since we're
enclosing the laminating sleeve seperately.

-----------------------------------------------
Okay, I'll start by saying the winner for art choice
is #5, which is a new Sergio sketch, IF IF IF HE'S
WILLING!!! I asked for and tallied seperately
secondary votes for other options if Sergio isn't
willing to do this, so the first number is a vote just
for that option, the second number is additional votes
from those who voted for option 5!!!

Picture on Back (with Sergio’s permission)
1. Groo climbing out of computer, as on Josh’s
GROO.COM website
 ---9 votes
 ---6 votes if not #5
***RUNNER UP WINNER IF SERGIO ALLOWS ART BUT WON'T DO
ORIGINAL SKETCH***

2. A Groo & Rufferto picture.
 ---5 votes
 ---3 votes if not #5

3. A multi-character Groo cast picture. (Whatever we
can find with Groo, Rufferto, Sage, Minstrel, Chakaal,
etc.)
 ---5 votes
 ---6 votes if not #5

4. The classic “Sergio Aragones ‘GROO THE WANDERER”
logo
 ---3 votes
 ---1 votes if not #5

5. “Official Groo Membership Card” and the
“www.groo.com”copy custom drawn with Groo & Rufferto
(again, only Sergio willing, so if you vote for this
one, designate a second choice).
 ---16 votes ***WINNER***

Also got 1 vote for "no picture" - who knows, that may
be the winner too!!!

Now, when it comes time to collect money for costs, if
it should happen that I actually end up with more
money than needed, then I told Mark we will make a
donation in the Groop's name to the Comic Book Legal
Defense fund or another charity named by Sergio &
Mark.

AGAIN, IMPORTANT SO READ THIS:
PLEASE DON'T SEND ME OR THE GROOP ANY EMAILS YET
SAYING YOU WOULD LIKE A CARD. I won't be saving such
emails, you'll have to wait until all approvals are in
and i send out a notice asking you to place your
order. THANKS!!!
