I've been picking up the collected issues of Fables as they come out. 
I like it a lot, but then I'm a sucker for interesting approaches to 
mythic characters (which is why I like The League of Extraordinary 
Gentlemen -- as well as various incarnations of The X-Men and Justice 
League, but that's a whole other post). The artwork and writing are 
both top notch, it's one of the mainstream titles I'd recommend to 
someone who isn't necessarily into comic books. Pick up "Legends in 
Exile" if you can, it introduces you to all the characters and their 
backstories and is a neat detective story besides.
