In regards to your question about eggnog... NO! Just say NO to eggnog!
Actually in small quantities once a year I don't mind it, it's the fruitcake
that keeps getting passed back and forth and doubles as a door stop that I
don't like.
You didn't miss the deadline as Womble suggested as I'm on Central Standard
Time, so as any fool can plainly see from the timestamp on your e-mail
(unless modified by a bad mail server), you had less than 47 minutes to
spare.
Here's my quote from last years e-mail:
Okay, since I've done this for years and I'm "detail oriented" (I was told
anal retentive sounds bad), here are the numbers _I_ came up with for last
year. Keep in mind that I deleted duplicates and the old "Please unsubscribe
me" messages from people who somehow got on the list and didn't realize it.
Also, if the display name changed several times, I may not have caught all
of them, but I'm sure there's NO surprises in the list. Lastly, being detail
oriented, these are based on CST.
Total Groo Messages Received by Charles in 2003 - 1683 (which happens to be
exactly ONE more message than in 2002)
Top 5 from 2002 (from my previous e-mail):
1 - Gary (What, Me Err?) Grossman - 293
2 - Larry (Did I Groo... again?) Steller - 174
3 - Mark (Man of 1000 jobs) Evanier - 119
4 - Azamin (Cantona) Zainol Abidin - 89
5 - Eric (Witty name here) Chun - 73
Top 5 from 2003 (even with the dynamic duo of Janet & Elie):
1 - Gary (What Groo Panel?) Grossman - 183
2 - Larry (I'm with Gary) Stellar - 151
3 - Eric (No Profanity!) Chun - 113 (I'm still having problems coming up
with something barely witty here)
4 - Janet (We should be counted together) & Elie (Yeah! Toothbrush and
all!) - 72+30 = 102
5 - Ariel (The hills are alive, with the sound of Groosagi) Sudilovsky - 69
6 - Mark (There's no need to fear, Mark Evanier is here) Evanier - 67
Chris Schechner, Kaytee Sumida, Seth (GrooPunk), Azamin Zainol Abidin, and
Chad Riden were all next in line (in roughly that order). Josh Jones wasn't
too far behind, but I was still 2 posts below him for the year (which also
happened to be two posts less than last year). You may notice that the
there are a few people that are always in the top 5, and it so happens that
they all attend the SDCC every year as well (it wouldn't happen without one
of them). So, if you want to be a top poster for this year, perhaps you
need to start attending SDCC on a regular basis?
Anyway, that's my spiel for the beginning of this year and my first post for
the year as well. I hope no one made any silly resolutions just because
it's the beginning of a new year. Resolutions should be made when the time
is right (Talk Like a Pirate Day) rather than a specific date (Yak Shaving
Day).
Okay, I'll be back to lurking and perhaps match or exceed my posts from last
year.
Charles

Happy New Year, Everyone (unless you live west of Eastern Standard Time,
in which case, wait until after midnight local time to read this).
I forgot who I was supposed to email to remind them that, when they
compile the list of top 10 Groop posters of 2004, Elie and I were supposed
to be counted together since we share the same tube of toothpaste and drink
directly from the same carton of eggnog. I'm assuming the appropriate
person is out there reading this.
Again, may Rufferto guard your 2004.
Janet
