[Groop] WWN Back Issues Saga

Hi Folks!

OK, here's the silly (Groo-ish) story of how I finally ordered 10 of the 11
back issues of the Weekly World News that have Sergio in them.

I go to the web site, and send an e-mail asking about the back issues that I
need, getting a Auto reply telling me I'll get a real reply in a couple
days. The next day I call the toll free line (It never hurts to go from a
couple different angles and besides, i didn't want to wait a couple days.)
And the telephone woman tells me there are no back issues for the dates I
want.

But then a couple days later the e-mail folks write that I can order the
back issues via fax with a credit card or money order. What exactly they
want you to fax them and how you fax a money order was not explained. So I
write them back and say that the faxing thing is nice, but the telephone
lady told me there were no back issues for the weeks I need. I get an Auto
reply saying I'll get a real reply in a couple days.

So now I figure that the phone lady made a mistake, so I call again the next
day and once again I am told (I think by the same person) that the weeks I
want are not available. So now I figure the e-mail folks were wrong.

But then a couple days later I get an e-mail that says they can't understand
why I was told there were no back issues for the weeks I want because
they've got them. It was signed "Lacey"

So, of course, I call the toll free line again and ask to talk to Lacey and,
of course, I am told that the e-mail folks don't have telephones, BUT shock
of shocks!!!, this telephone gal tells me they DO have back issues and I can
order them right then and there! (Which is good, since I still hadn't
figured out how to fax a money order.)

So she puts me on hold for a bit and then tells me they have all the issues
except May 23rd. (My brother's birthday is May 23rd. Coincidence? I don't
think so. I'd call him up and ask him about it, but that's probably exactly
what "They" want me to do.) So, theoretically, the WWN issues, except for
May 23rd, are on there way.

I think what happened is that being on the west coast, I called after hours
the first two times and got the night time answering service person, who
also doubles as the security guard, cleaning lady, and chief story writer.
When the issues arrive, I'll let you know, unless I'm kidnapped by aliens
working for the CIA.

Take care all -Gary G.
