No real "juicy scoops" from the panel. However... Mark looks great. I was
afraid with all the weight he was losing so quickly, he'd look fragile, as did
some of the others that I know who had the same surgery. Anyway, he still looks
like Mark, and is full of energy (either that, or he really did get some
clones this year to do some of the daily multiple back-to-back panels). Carolyn is
as cute as ever. Sergio likewise. And Stan. Tom apparently didn't make it to
the con.
The movie: screenplay is done, and some of the scenes drawn as "samples" of
what they want in the movie. Sergio isn't quite sure how they will handle the
violence-- he doesn't want to show the actual slashing and spraying blood,
etc., but cartoons can't "skip ahead" like comics, so he can't start the fray then
jump to the end of the fight in the next panel.... Nobody has been chosen for
Groo's voice. Sergio probably will do at least one of the other voices (he's
being "urged" to do so). Chaakal won't be in the movie, but there will be a
leading lady named "Silva" (I think that's what Mark said)-- because Mark really
likes that name (she's not the character with the same name in the comics).
Groo vs Conan is getting to the planning stage, but things still need to be
finalized with Dark Horse.
Gary promises that Becki will come next year. Maybe Claire.
Quick Draw is today....
