[Groop] New record for Groo collecting

Groop:

This thread concerning Groo sketches brings an interesting story to mind.
When I worked with Walt Disney Feature Animation; Sergio and a host of other
comic book artists stopped in to tour the studio and talk about their work.
During an open panel Q&A, Sergio got teamed up on by a lot of younger (and
in my opinion, less talented) comic book artists who insisted that artists
today don't really need schooling or classical art education to create
quality work. Sergio, who studied architecture for many years, was
adamantly opposed to this way of thinking and did his best to stress the
importance of learning things like proper anatomy and perspective, but
unfortunately, he was outnumbered by the younger guests. Frank Frazetta was
there, too and I think he and Jeff Smith ("Bone") agreed with Sergio.
Sadly, they weren't as vocal about it.
After the panel, I thanked Sergio for coming and mentioned that I was a
longtime fan of Groo. I also told him that my brother and I had really
enjoyed reading MAD Magazine when we were kids and thanked him for all those
years of entertainment and inspiration. As I turned to walk out, he stopped
me and handed me a personalized Groo sketch he had produced right there as I
was talking to him (I didn't ask him for one . . .) and then he gave me a
second drawing -- an Alfred E. Neuman for my brother!
As soon as my colleagues saw this they scrambled over, greedily lining up to
ask him for a drawing.

I think he ended up drawing a sketch for everyone in the studio that day . .
.
