ME: Voices for almost all the top cartoon shows are done under the
Screen Actors Guild minimum basic agreement which provides for
residuals. The actor gets a set fee for doing the show, then they get
around 50% for the first rerun, 25% for the second and third reruns,
and then it drops a lot. Eventually, it gets down to only a few bucks
per run but it's something.
It's the same way with writing residuals. Yesterday, I got a $3.00
check for an episode of THE LOVE BOAT that I wrote.
Movies pay residuals when they're run on TV. There are also some
payments linked to the sale of DVDs or VHS tapes.
