I saw those earlier today. I was very surprised to see them there. However, I
can say in all honesty that before I joined this AWESOME GROOP OF GROOPIES
and discovered such things I would have bid in an instant on a Groo credit card. I
had very little exposure to Groo items. The nearest comic book shops are 150
miles away and have little interest in rare Groo items. I'm somewhat surprised a
Detroit Con shirt hasn't shown up on ebay yet. Maybe the few of us that acquired
them just can't part with them.
The items that bother me are the freebie signing cards and some of the comics
that showed up. It's the same discussion as before: I believe free signed items for
an individual is a favor by the artist. If you pay for a sketch or autograph, the
artist is compensated and it is yours to do with as you please. If you ask "Would
you sign or sketch for me?" you are asking for something for your personal
enjoyment. Sergio, Mark, Tom, and Stan have been most gracious in sharing
Groo with us for 25 years. I would not want to do anything to make them leery
of offering items to us either at an event or as a GROOP. I am just grateful
to be a very small part of the Groo experience. Thanks to Gary and others here
for inside info and great Groo stuff.
