I think I err'ed...
I had this week and next week off work. I took my family to the mountains
for this whole week fishing/hiking and enjoying nature and made the mistake
of letting my employer knowing where I was...
Well, to make a long story short, they hunted me down and brought me into
work this morning (left at 4 am to fix major crisis at work!)
I will be rejoining my wife and kids tomorrow night but with the new clients
we just signed, they ordered me to not go on vacation next week!
I was leaving Wednesday for the San Diego Comics Con and was planning on
staying until my return Sunday...
I have the Groo Curse! I am now needed at work. The seven employees lent
to me on our project did NO WORK while I was gone, putting us behind our
deadline. We are letting two go with cause and giving the other 5 a second
chance. However, I now have to stay and manage the slugs.
Gary! Any way I can fed-ex my barcode printout and have you "register" as
me so I can get the souvenir bug statue thingy and program guide (Souvenir
Book, event book, all the above)? Do they check positive ID even if you
have the barcoded printout from registration? If you can, I can fed-ex you
the paperwork and enough cash so you can snail-mail me the stuff.
Too late for a refund, so my employer is reimbursing me for my conference
registration as well as misc. non-refundable fees I paid. However, they
cannot replace the lost experience of seeing Sergio Aragones after 20+ years
of collecting his works (I started with Marvel number 10 or so... have all
his issues/books/etc)
Sorry, Kaytee! I will have to miss dinner with the groop!
I am totally bummed out, disappointed, and even considered quitting.
However, how else would I support my family?
I will make it up next year by attending twice!!! We will just need to find
a way to clone me so I can accomplish it. I was hoping to meet you all and
see Sergio and ME in person finally (and get a signature or two while at
it).
Sorry!!!
Let me know, Gary, that is even possible for you to pretend you are me...
