[Groop] Motor City

So the Motor City Con was great fun.

Sergio and Stan were both really generous and kind.

I pulled out my Groop card to get signed, and the definition of mulch on the
back gave Sergio a laugh. He then pulled out his Membership card to
compare. A woman in line was fascinated with the cards, and we both told
her about the Groop.

Along with getting a bunch of items signed, I also purchased from Sergio a
French Hard Cover reprint book, and a Spanish soft cover reprint book.
Sergio was also kind enough to draw me a sketch which I will proudly frame
and display. And he gave my wife one of the Groo fridge magnets.

Stan was selling some cool ashcan sized Sketchbooks, including a newer one
which he mentioned has an alternative ending to Usagi #102 (which he prefers
to the published one).

The panel was great. Sergio was charismatic and told some great stories.
Some highlights included:
- the movie is still in planning stage but even once they start putting it
together, will still take at least four years to create.
- Groo.com and the Groop were mentioned.
- the new Groo comic is currently being drawn by Sergio.
- Sergio hopes to have a new "Batlash" comic out by D.C. in the near future
which he is co-writing, but not illustrating.
- T.C. Mars is still in the pipeline but with the industry as it is, no
plans to release a new character.
- Sergio would love to get published a compilation of all of the Mad Looks
At... with commentary.
- Sergio submits dozens of Mad Marginals each month, and they probably have
hundreds to thousand filed away.
- Stan has been asked to be part of a Marvel published 6 issue limited
series using Marvel characters, but it is still in the planning stages.
- Gary was mentioned as the ultimate collector of Groo/Sergio related items.
- whole bunch of funny stories involving Sergio first coming to the US, to
Mad, to Marvel, trying to get a creator owned character published, trying to
find Stan's house in the middle of the night, ect.

That's all I can remember at this late hour,
J
