I think the Allies bombed it a couple of times during the War. And someone
may have landed on it.
ISTR it was one of those places that the Japanese POWs were taken out of
prison and made into a police force after the war to keep the locals in
line.
So it probably technically belongs to the US since the UK did that and the
UK belongs to the US.
