Here is how you tell them apart:

Batman is the guy dressed like a bat who is motivated by a neverending
need for vengence against the crminal world for the brutal murder of his
parents, but he  never actually wants to kill anyone.   

Groo is the guy dressed in a tunic with no pants who is motivated by a
neverending need for frays and cheesedip and although he dosen't have
anything against anyone, he ends up killing almost everyone! 

Hmmm.  I'm not sure which character is more unrealistic.
