[Groop] Images of Groo

Saw those Images of Groo eBay lots and sent a nasty letter, as I am
want to do whenever I spy wallet-rape. Just trying to keep 'em honest.
Or at least let them know people are Watching.

A very nice (but unrealistic in my opinion) man has been selling his
DH miniatures - $100 for three of 'em: 701, 702, 703. But he's a big
fan, however - of course he thinks they are worth more than they
really are - he thought he could get upwards of $200 for them. I have
no problem with that - a collector pricing things at what it it would
be worth to them to sell rather than hold on to. If they sell, great;
if they don't, he gets to keep them in his collection. It is the
intentional and artificial inflation of these kinds of things by
"respectable" dealers that get all up under my grill.

But who knows, perhaps this next round of issue releases, particularly
the crossovers, will pull Groo out of the peripheral and launch it
into full-blown mainstream popularity. Its 300-or-so active
collectorship/ hard-core fan base would suddenly swell to hundreds of
thousands, all of whom are desperate to get their hands on past
issues, swag, cards, signatures, etc. and our Houndbook bookmarks will
suddenly be worth hundreds (starting bid on mine is well below that at
$80 - bid now!). Time to buy it all now so you too can bilk the oft-
promised, soon-to-come newbie throngs.

Regards,
  ~ Porter (the vigilant)
