Post Con Report
Another Great Comic-Con under our belts. It was great to meet the long suffering Mrs. Grossman, Doug, Gary and other Groosters / Groopies at Sergio's table and the Sergio and Mark Show.
I was excited to find out about Sergio's upcoming exhibit at the Ojai, Ca. Museum. Also, there will be a birthday celebration for Ray Bradbury in Glendale, Ca. on his birthday. Both events will be close to me so I will plan to attend.
I'll look forward to the upcoming Groo / Conan series and the Groo: the George Dub-ya Bush Years (sorry I don't remember the actual name of the upcoming Groo comic). Anyways, I discovered that the Comic Con Booth still sells the Groo pins from 1993 and the Sergio Mad Magazine 1997 shirt.
Overall, it was a fun week. The highlight for me being the quick-draw panel. I don't think I laughed so hard when Mark pulled his little joke when he put up the three word guess gag and it read "There is no List". It was interesting to see the panelists didn't know what to do which was a dead give away for the unknowing player.
I laughed myself silly watching Mark put Sergio, Scott Shaw, and this year's guest artist, Disney Legend Floyd Norman get put through the paces. Once again my favorite drawing was Sergio's self portrait showing his idea of being tortured which was Mark talking to him. Last year it was "Sergio! Don't do that!" where Sergio's self portrait was him strangling Mark. Great Gags all around.
Preview night was a little overwhelming; it was busier then I have ever seen it. Otherwise, a great show, with fun people doing something we love to do.
See you all next year. . .
Take Care,
Forrest Stobbe
