[Groop] eComics: ethics, the future & ME

not true. I collect things other than groo. Often I buy "Fine" and "Very Good" comics from the Silver Age period due to their balance between condition and affordability. Unless its ridiculously cheap I won't even look at something in a higher grade. Quoting from my Comics values annual "Very Good: A well worn reading copy with some minor damage such as creasing, small tears or cover flaking. Some discoloration may be evident, with obvious wear around the staples. Little luster remains, and some rolling of the spine may be seen when the comic is laid flat on the table."
All in all not too shabby. Water damage, anything missing (anything at all really) tape repairs, excessive scribbling/writing don't even get you into the "Good" range. The names of the grades actually are pretty accurate for what they describe.
The ones I was talking about, I would have graded as "Fair" I'm generally displeased with grades given by ebay sellers. Fortunately they were in a large lot, and half of the books were in collectible quality, and the price was cheap. Still disappointing though. Its happened to me too many times actually.
