[Groop] Mad's Greatest Artists:Sergio Aragones HC

Hey Neil!

All very good questions. The promo is somewhat confusing.

First of all, remember, Sergio owns the rights to the Marginals. MAD owns
the rights to the Non-Marginal work. This is a compilation of Sergio
Non-Marginal MAD work, which would be mostly "A MAD Look At..." "The Shadow
Knows" and stuff like that.

I thought Sergio had said that he was not involved in choosing what would be
in the book, so that part of the promo dosen't sound right. I'll bet the
mini-poster is the 500 marginals that appeared in MAD #500. Those were
selected by Sergio, so maybe that's where there is an error in the promo
text.

Matt Groening is a big, big Sergio fan and obviously a bigger name than
Patrick McDonnell. So I'm guesssing they got Groening after the original
description and probably commissioned the cooler looking cover as well.

Those are just my guesses. Probably MAD Magazine would be a better source
for the answers than Sergio, since it is their book. Hey Mike Slaubaugh!
Can Your connections at MAD clear any of this up?

Gary G.
