Hi Folks!
The IDW shipping manager told me the weight with packaging should be pushing 9lbs. It looks like I’ll be carting 26 books, so that’s about 230lbs. The current plan is put them in my suitcase with the rollers. It’ll all work.
FedEx has it’s points and there is one right at the Con, but they charge a Con premium, which is rather offensive. The one off site doesn’t do that, but their international shipping is even more expensive than the post office and I’d like to send everything off at once form the same place. It’ll be shipped in a box within a box, so it should be safe, but if you don’t trust media mail I understand. I can do it differently for different folks.
Hopefully we can everything lined up by the end of the weekend.
Gary G.

I'm leaning towards Priority shipping since it's such a big item. The size of the Hardcover is about 2 feet and the "Artists Edition" usually weigh at least 15 pounds. If it's shipped with Media Mail, Post Office handlers will probably keep Groo at the bottom of all their packages and would be prone to damage. Unless Groo get's them first!

I agree with most everything you said. I send a lot of stuff too.
My two cents, however:
1. USPS is convenient and reliable for me, UPS and FedEx (especially FedEx) is not
2. We're talking Groo here. I can't think of any reason short of gifting to need this quickly.
3. Insurance terms between the three are mostly similar. The differences between proof of valuation (the only way to prove claim amounts) do not vary.

What most people do not know about media mail is that it does not have to move from the post office the same day it is received! this means it can sit for awhile before it is on its way. Then it can take up to 2 weeks to get delivered! Yes it is cheap, but you get what you pay for. Also insurance # does not always help with tracking. You might get back your money (seldom shipping cost back) but you miss out on a limited book.I know this from experience. Not only was my dad a Mail person, but my family owned a store like the UPS store. Sometimes UPS or FedEx Ground is cheaper than the Post Office and you get a tracking # and $100 insurance for free.
No offense intended, just my 2 cents,
Mike Skinner
