Can't speak to whether they are really sold out or not. But I do know we Groopies have at least 32 of them. With what I'm picking up plus George, Steve, and Bruce.

As for boxes, They come in a box. I'll open the box so Sergio can personalize it, unless you tell me not to.

Then I'll reseal the box. Then I'll put the box in a box with LOTS & LOTS of peanuts. I've already got the peanuts and boxes on order for delivery to where I'm staying.

So there, Nyahh!

IDW previously had a special John Romita Sr. Artist's Edition
(with 2 signatures and a remarque) that was released at
Wondercon. They set aside a limited number (100?) for
pre-order, which included mail order if you couldn't make
it to the show. The rest of the copies (150?) were sold at
Wondercon.

Unless I misunderestimate IDW's trend, the special Groo
Artist's Edition is not sold out yet. The rest of the copies
will be sold at Comic Con.

Because of the size and weight of the artist editions, there is
a small chance that a corner(s) may be dented in the mail.
(It's a catastrophe if your $150 book is dented!) When the 1st
artist edition (Dave Stevens) was released, there were
complaints of dents. The packaging has improved since then.
(They were always double boxed, but the outer box is larger
now.) Still, the outer box is not completely filled with packing
peanuts, and the inner box (and book) can move around.
There might not even be -any- packing peanuts included, if
purchased at the show. I'd suggest completely filling the outer
box with packing peanuts before shipping, but carrying around
2 giant bags of packing peanuts, 275 lbs of books/boxes in a
suitcase, and a bagel dog across the crowded exhibit floor might
look a little silly. But, those bagel dogs really taste good ...

No, I won't be getting one of those. Hoping for some of Sergio's other, new stuff, though!

Looks like the Comicon Variant is sold out at the IDW shop:

Only took 2 weeks. 250 was a tiny print run.....
