[Groop] The curse of Groo strikes again

I ride my bicycle to work and I always have my Rufferto hat. It's probably the only reason I'm alive. -Gary G.

I will be carrying Rufferto, wearing a Rufferto t-shirt and possibly having a discrete Rufferto tattoo somewhere on my body, just to be safe.

  But thanks for the reminder.

You do realize that you will have to be on a plane with a Groo item several thousand feet above certain death... are you sure you thought this through?

    Hi everyone,

Just a little note to let you know that, although we haven't had any new Groo in a while, the curse of Groo remains strong.

Recently, you might remember that some old Groo t-shirts were put up for sale on Ebay. I was lucky (stupid) enough to bid and win for the 1986 Graphitti Shirt. Anyway, Steve kindly packed the t-shirt securely and sent it on its way to England.

    Over water.

With no Rufferto on the t-shirt.

Did I err? What could possibly go wrong?

Now, I have received many parcels from the USA over the years but only 4 have gone missing/been broken and they were all Groo related. To ensure that I would get the parcel I asked Steve to send it to my work address as I was going on holiday to Spain and would not be able to receive it at home.

So, on the last day at work, I get a note from the post room saying that there was a parcel for me but I had to pay a customs charge. I went online to pay the charge (£3.88 plus an £8 admin fee) and received an email saying that the parcel would be delivered within two working days.

I flew off to Spain thinking all was well. On my return, there was no parcel. I spoke to the Post Office and got passed from one department to another whilst they looked in to the problem. Eventually (after 30 mins)they worked out that the parcel was in the closest post office to my work based on the postcode (the UK equivalent of a ZIP code) but the payment had gone to a different post office as the debit card I paid with was my home address with a different postal area. Although the parcel reference was on the payment, the two offices had not spoken to each other. The girl on the phone said that she would arrange for the parcel to be delivered within the next two days as it was getting close to the 21 days that they hold the parcel before they would return it to the sender.

Two days later I had received nothing. So I went to the Post Office to try to collect it in person, armed with all the paperwork showing I had paid the customs charge. This time I met with success as the guy just kept the paperwork I showed him and gave me the parcel.

Anyway, after much more effort than necessary, I have the t-shirt (thanks Steve) and have now decided that if I want anything else Groo related from the US, I will fly over in person to collect it.

Yours realising that the Groo effect will never wear off,

    Simon Passey
