If you're interested in buying a copy, we've created a web page to make it easy to order. Please read the info carefully and understand that the posters will not ship till at least mid August, after Sergio has had a chance to sign and number them. This is a limited print run and once they sell out the website will be shut down. Go to www.grooposter.com if you're interested in purchasing. Thanks, George From garyg5678 at live.com Thu Jul 10 20:09:16 2014 From: garyg5678 at live.com (Gary Grossmann) Date: Thu, 10 Jul 2014 20:09:16 -0700 Subject: [Groop] A new poster from Sergio In-Reply-To: <53BF3149.3090802@karalias.com> References: <53BF3149.3090802@karalias.com> Message-ID: Hi Folks! Alright, this is about as cool as it gets! The first real Groo Poster since 1987! And the biggest ever!! And oddly enough I will not be involved in getting them to my fellow Groopies. That is falling to the poster mastermind, George Karalias! (The Long Suffering Mrs. G. thanks you George!) But you better order quickly! Especially you folks who read Groop mail in digests once a week or so. The announcement has also been posted on the VIVA SERGIO! Facebook page that Scott Shaw! created and it has 1222 members!! Plus Mark Evanier will have something posted on his blog if he doesn't already! So these things could be gone rather quickly and it would be a shame if any of us hardcore Sergio/Groo Groopies were left out!! (And left to -shutter- the tender mercies of...ebay!! bum-bum-bummmm!) What's $60 plus $10 shipping and handling domestic, $20 international for something that cool? I already know where I'm hanging mine! What a great way to kick off what will be a great Groo Year!! If anyone ends up with a spare souvenir booklet and program guide I'd like to arrange to have them sent to my friend and Disney historian/author Jim Korkis. Jim used to be a fixture at the Con when he lived in Southern California. He moved to Central Florida to assist his parents who wanted to retire to that area. He has worked in various capacities for Disney related entities which exist due to the proximity of Walt Disney World. And recently he found an honest publisher (not like the dubious character who published the Korkis/Cawley books of the 90s) and is doing books on various Disney topics (which Mark plugged in his blog as a thank you for Jim answering some questions relating to Saving Mr. Banks). But Jim misses the Con. Knowing that each year I would send him my copy of the souvenir book and program guide. He was always effusive in thanking me for doing that. Since I am not at the Con this year I was hoping to arrange for someone to send him the booklets. I know Jim will appreciate it greatly. If anyone can help e-mail me at dgabbard at hotmail.com and I'll provide the address and we can arrange for me to reimburse the postage. Thanks. Hope everyone at the Con is having a great time. I ordered 3, I only want one signed. I also want to get one unnumbered too, so it is perfectly clean.... I will probably hardly see them, but I love you see them as I go through my collection every now n then. The Siege poster, I have all but 10% covered with kids pictures that was built steadily over the last 4 years, which I did consciously, as it seemed a bit sunny in the loungeroom, which had me moderately concerned for fading... I have 4 of these, 3 bought at 20 bucks buy it now... EBay, The other was 60, about 10 years ago on ebay. I like to snatch up cheap groo stuff to sell later, helps pay for expensive groo gear, when and if they turn up. But I'm lazy to sell.... That's why I've got 11 completed sets of Groo cards, never sold any. Kept buying loose cards in bulk, a few sets from the 3 or so boxes I've bought along the way (no sketch out signed cards, n few ID cards too), and I must say GARY was absolutely pivital in rustling up missing cards for my last few sets. Thus transforming alot of chaff into gold after my expensive adventures buying boxes of cards. This is a new post using a different email, otherwise, I've been haunting this site since I got the internet in 1996.... I was the_tsar in previous posts. I'm Jason the aussie groo collector. I collect all things Groo, except one off appearances, Gary can be that gatekeeper... I would hate to start collecting Groo now. The comics, once only in mint condition and plentiful, from the big online sellers, seem to be mostly in fine condition and missing in chunks. Then there are the statues and the like, they may take years to pop up, like the Xmas ornament or groo walking statute... Etc So any Groo collection, even ones filled with lower tier items (Ie, not the really rare or expensive stuff) have this time value to them....in that it may take more than a decade to obtain the same items an average groo collection holds. But I don't think this adds any money value... So a qn to Groupies, Does anyone else have ridiculous amounts of the same Groo items? Enough of my garbage: Cheers, Jason -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Well, we survived another Con. Sorry for no updates and sorry I can't do a fabulous report like The Kunster. Trying to keep up with Sergio is quite a job! Groo vs. Conan was a big hit. We sold all 230 copies that Dark Horse brought and could have sold another 50 or more easy. The creation of the new amazing fabulous Groo poster was the brain child of long time Groopie and good friend George Karalias's and there are still a good number available, so you can still order one online at www.grooposter.com. People were goggling at it in amazement all week. What you can see online doesn't do the incredible detail and Tom Luth's incredible vibrant coloring justice. We had a great time. It was really wonderful to see Sergio back to his old self after the last 2 years, (back issue and then hip replacement) He is amazing for a man who is about to turn 77. Actually, he is amazing for a man of any age! I missed seeing the regulars who either didn't want to deal with the hassle of registration or did not win the lottery that is registration. But it was really good to see Kaytee and Adriel (aka Groosagi!) I also got to see Groop e-mail creator Josh Jones, which is always fun. I think maybe the Groop should shift attention from San Diego to a more accessible con, like WonderCon (currently in Anaheim) or Big Wow con in San Jose. One more thing. It may be possible to arrange for the spectacular Available at the 2012 Con Only version of the IDW Groo book for the original price of $150. The regular version (original price $100 I think) is sold out, although it seems to be available on ebay at various prices. But apparently there may be some of the 250 Con Only books available. If anyone is interested or you know of folks who might be, please let me know in a private e-mail. It's the closest to the original art of a complete comic (and it's 4 of them, plus bonuses!) that any of us will ever own (except wolvergeek!) Sergio cut quite a figure in his 30's and 40's. Through a completely Groo-ish act on my part I ended up with 2, both with a "to Gary" on the inside title page. Sergio has nothing in the program ( it seems like nothing in many years) or souvenir book? If so, I do not see any point in trying to go to CA from PA when I have already met Sergio more than once. It's the closest to the original art of a complete comic (and it's 4 of them, plus bonuses!) that any of us will ever own (except wolvergeek!) Anywho, we can look forward to NEW Groo for next couple years, plus Sergio Funnies will start up soon as will Groo reprints in big book form. WhoHoo!! Is anyone beside George (I assume he'll be there)? Also, I recently picked up a Siege poster. It's in a cheap frame, and has tape around the edge. It is flat. I will take it out and ship in roll tube. Anybody, interested? John T. The detail is incredible (and hilarious!) and the vibrant color jumps out at you due to the type of paper that was used. I think it's more than a fair price, especially compared to some of the MAD stuff I've picked up for you in the past. > > > > I addition to the poster there was of course Groo vs. Conan, part 1. And there is the original art in his two portfolios ranging from $150 to $2000, plus you can commission him to do something overnight.
