That comment of mine came to one of the reasons to stop filesharing. It was said that creaters lose money when art is sold without their permission - or something to this effect. I asked, if this is the sole reason to stop filesharing, then we should also stop comic book stores or ebayers from selling old comics or used record stores from selling used music. Those are cases in which art is being sold and the money is not going to the artist. There was then a response to this saying that these used music/comic/book outlets still provide jobs and filesharing, in addition to robbing the artist, also robs employees and owners of these stores. I then questioned that if it was a concern of people being hurt by skipping the proper process, then by taping a television program and editing out commercials, you are not allowing yourself to be exposed to that which pays for the program you're watching. As a result, you're hurting the television program by not supporting the advertised product and also not supporting the company that sells the product. With a lack of sales, the company can't afford to pay for future advertising (which supports television shows & movies), can't afford to pay employees and so on down the line. So if it's a question of allowing proper people to be paid, I suggest that you watch commercials that pay for television programming and movies which in turn supports me. By avoiding commercials and advertising, you are negating the creators of a product and those that make their living by getting that product from creator to consumer - whether that product is a commercial or a comic or a song.
