<P>I would suggest starting the night before, take I-5 and when you feel tired stop at one of the hotels at the off-ramp communities that cluster along the Interstate as it goes from the Bay Area to L.A. for a few hours of sleep. Doing the entire drive in one 8 hour binge will leave you exhausted at the Con and is a dangerous driving situation (your reflexes eventually slow down, judgement is impaired by beuing tired, etc.). </P>
<P>Have you thought of taking Southwest? They have a sale for $39 each way from Oakland to San Diego with 14 day advance purchase (which means you have to buy PDQ): <A href="http://www.southwest.com/hotfares/040706_california.html">http://www.southwest.com/hotfares/040706_california.html</A> There is a $2 bus from the airport to downtown San Diego fom which you can take the trolley to the Convention Center. This alternative also saves trying to find a place to park...<BR></P>

<DIV></DIV>>I just found out that I'll be in San Francisco starting on the 21st.
<DIV></DIV>>I will be working but will have the weekend off. The question is: Is
<DIV></DIV>>it worth the drive? (to San Diego, of course) I would have to start
<DIV></DIV>>the trip on Saturday morning, and would have to leave again around
<DIV></DIV>>mid afternoon on Sunday. Mapquest says its a 7 hour drive, but I'm
<DIV></DIV>>sure that it can be extended by the friendly California traffic.
<DIV></DIV>>But, again, is it worth it for just one day total of convention? And
<DIV></DIV>>is anyone from the Bay area going to do the same drive?
