Wow!
I am insanely jealous of all those who attended the Con! Loved the pictures of
Sergio peering into a sea of Groos! That had to be a riot! The 25th anniversary
hats look awesome and I can't wait to get mine! That banner is beyond belief!
If there are any prints or posters in the future count me in.
Gary, I will patiently wait for info on available freebies, hats and magnets (well
as patiently as a Groo fan can wait) I sent some money paypal earlier, just let me know how much I still owe.
While the Con was raging on, I was on a Groo road trip of my own. I went to
Chicago last weekend. As I was walking out the door, I decided to take my new
Groop Membership Card with me. Things started out well. I arrived in Wichita
Friday night to catch a 7:00 a.m. flight to Chicago. We decided
to go see the
new Simpson's movie to pass the time. When we got to the theater, both
screens were sold out. When we went back to my brother's truck to leave,
someone had hit his truck. Nothing serious, but still a dent. We get to the
airport an hour and a half before our flight leaves. When we get to the counter,
there is a line halfway across the terminal! When we check the departures, we
find our flight has been canceled! The next available flight is 12 hours later.
I call my travel agent and find out there is a 1:00 flight leaving from Kansas City
that I still might make.(KC is 3 1/2 hours from Wichita) We make the flight and
get to Chicago. Unfortunately our shuttle ride to the hotel takes 2 hours in rush
hour traffic! What was supposed to be a 10:30 a.m.arrival at the hotel is now a
6:00p.m. wasted day. Our reservations for supper had to be canceled, so we
had to settle for
ESPN Zone.
The Food Show and events the next day go on without incident until Sunday
evening. When we board our bus for scheduled events, the first bus breaks down
in the pickup area. They transfer us to the next bus. The driver proceeds to run
into a bridge support trying to make a right turn. We finally arrive at the Navy
Pier for the evening. There is food, drink, and 2 bands for entertainment, but
the rest of the pier is blocked off. Not included in our "package". Later that night
I discover the HOOTERS girls are going to be at the show the day after we leave!
Finally, the trip home. We arrive at O'Hare (Chicago airport) early only to find
another mess. Our return tickets are still taking us to Wichita, while our truck is
in Kansas City. Another call to the travel agent. We will have to hurry to get on
a flight. I check my bag
and head for security. My brother tries to check his bag
but they say it's too late! They will let him on the plane, but he'll have to carry on
his suitcase. This means he has to throw away his toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
because he can't carry it on. When we arrive at the gate to get our boarding
passes, we find out the flight has been moved from gate C20 to gate B4. All
the way from one end of the terminal to the other. We race to the other end of
the terminal to make it. When we arrive, our flight has been moved to gate B1
and delayed 45 minutes! Eventually we get to KC and head home. However,
as we start to drive home, the sky turns dark(much like the cover of new Groo)
and the rains and lightning begin. A 5 1/2 hour drive takes us 7 hours!

So.....................My advice to travellers:
GROOP
