<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Well... Im a father of 3 and when I first heard
that Segio was coming back to NY my wife and I thought we would ditch my 2
youngest at my parents and go together with our 10 yr old daughter...we even
emailed M.E. to see the chances of kidnapping Sergio for dinner after the show
Sat. and making him eat paella at one of our favorite restaurants in the city
BUT that was not to be...My wife was hosting a baby shower and a friend of ours
was having a concert ot 8pm SO....I had the bright idea of taking my 2 oldest
with me, my daughter Samantha (10) and my son Alex (6)...for 2 weeks before the
show I was reconsidering bringing my 6yr old and was extreamly nervous
that it would be a disaster...</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Sat. morning we leave for the train at about 8am
and everything goes smooth, we get into the city about 9:30...My daughter
brought her personal sketch book with her doodles in it but my son does not have
one which could lead to considerable problems later BUT directly acroos
for the Con is a Boarders book store where after some searching we find the last
unlined journal/sketchbook they have...YAY </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>We get in line for the Con at 9:45 and we get to be
in the shorter of the 2 because I preordered tix...YAY...we get in the Con 5 or
so minutes before 10 and start looking around..I see a very familiar
name to me, Mark McKenna, (he lived maybe a mile a way from me for
years) I introduced him to my kids and he would have been the 1st sketch in my
kids sketch books except he had to run off for a while and asked if we could
come back... SO the next guy we saw was Segio...My daughter was very
prepared for him...She brought her 25th Special with her and had him sign
it, he gave us the 2 hats (Thanks Gary) and signed/sketched them (Im never
getting them back from them) My son brought his copy of Groo #111 and had him
sign itand then saw the stack of 25th Specials and wanted 1 also so I bought him
1 and my daughter wanted 1 for her friend so I bought her 1... Samantha
gave her sketchbook to Sergio and looked through her work and asked her about it
and made her feel really good about her art even though she gives up way too
easily, and he told her to keep drawing and with practice she will be great 1
day... He found what he deamed as a self portrait and drew a nice Rufferto next
to it...He then asked my son what he wanted drawn and when there was no
answer I asked him if he wanted a Groo or Rufferto, of course he said "Both!"
and Segio being Sergio said "O.K." and somthing about him being a smart boy...So
both my kids had their 1st sketches don by Sergio... We chated for a while
with Sergio and my kids wanted their picture with him and Sergio instantly made
2 fans for life... at the time I didnt know it but Tom was behind us in line
(sorry Tom, if I had known I would have introduced my self sooner)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I will continue later we only saw about another 25
or so artists and stopped by Sergio another 2
times...</FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML>
