<DIV>>>So, I can see how digital comics would be a good prospect for the
future of comics, as we become more accustomed to all of our entertainment
coming in digital format. The question then is, whether electronic
distribution expands the readership enough to compensate for reduced
multiple-copy buyers, freeloaders who get the content without paying, and the
necessary change in price structure.<<</DIV>

<DIV>"Girl Genius" and "Buck Godot" seem to be doing pretty well as a "web
first, then print" comic. I have all the "dead tree" versions available, and
plan to get the next volumes when those are available. Meanwhile, I read the
on-line installations. If Groo, or other Sergio Creations were available this
way, I would do the same. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I'm sure there are "free loaders" just reading what is available free,
on-line, but evidently there are enough others buying 1) the books, 2)
other/related merchandise (including sketches!) and/or 3) advertising banner
space that it is worth doing for the Foglio's and associates. I'm not sure if
they have some sort of anti-file sharing or anti-copying coding-- never
tried to do either, but I know such security/protection exists, and will
stop most casual non-authorized distribution. I would think Sergio would
need it more than the Foglio's-- he can pack more in a panel than anybody
else... so a copy of a single page could be worth the time/trouble for
dedicated crackers to steal, vs needing to get multiple pages to have a story.
