What up.... all?

Wow... what a pretty damn good weekend. Started it off at Free
Thinkin. On the inside Bodyrock as usuall knows how to FUNK it up!. Damn Chris,
Nirvana or what? On the outside it was great hearing Natalie and Cle' diggin
through the crates and throwing down the early 80s and New Wave tracks.
Saturday night I was going to stay home, due to a long day at work,
but a good friend of mine convienced me to go out. So i did, and headed on over
to the Henry Fonda Theatre. God damn I'm glad i went. First of all Murissio
Avillia, is one of my top 5 DJs, so getting there in time to hear him play
started my night off right. Sorry Josh for missing your set. Anyways, next
came on Latrice Barnett and The Moulton All-stars. "Holly Shit"... wait let me
say that again, "Holy Shit!" It's one thing to hear House being played live
and another thing hearing a Singer sing along with a DJ, but Hearing a live band
and a live singer at the same time...... Good Lord! Honestly I could not
stop dancing. Next came on Jay J..... I haven't heard him play the shit he was
throwing down in a long ass time. Lately he's been Deep.. but Sat. night he
was Deep, he was Bangin, and he brought the Funk. Again I couldn't stop
dancing. By this time I was dripping wet. Literally... it was hot, damn hot. Next
came on Lisa Shaw along with Miguel Migs on the decks. She sang about four
songs, which all four were off the hook. Finally Migs took over and played
solid the rest of the night. The venue was dope. The vibe was off the hook....
It had a warehouse vibe; it was hot and sweaty and there weren't too many
lights. Kind of disappointed that I only saw a couple of familiar faces but the
crowd, who I guarentee have only heard House once or twice before were getting
down, which made the night awesome. My props to Jordan, Josh and the rest of
the Uniting Souls crew.
Now I have to agree with Cade... I can't believe people say that LA
has no love for House Music. Are you kidding me. This week is going to be off
the hook.... Tonite... Twister, with Kasey Goto, Jordan and Scott K.
Tomorrow nite Jonra's new deal.. with Cade and Joplin, and even better only 15 min.
from my house. Wed. night "System", with "Wicked Crew's" Garth. Thursday
night Sue's Birthday, at The King King. On a side note. You all should attend
this night. Five years ago, when I moved back down here from Chicago I had no
idea what was going on in the LA house scene. If it weren't for Sue and
"Release" I as well as a lot of you would have sat on my lazy ass every wednesday
night and probably be still going to those lame ass huge "rave" parties. So ya,
you should all go. And shit she's got Marques Wyatt and Juluis Papp playing.
Hello!!! Ok well, Friday night should be dope. What's not better than
spending time with all your friends at a Free Bar-B-que, and then getting to hear
some dope Free Quality music spun by our favorite local Djs.
All you better get ready cause this is going to be a long and fun
week. Ok, me gots to go and take a shower and get ready for tonite at Twister.
Peace!
Matt
