Hola, E'ryone,
I am curious to know what everyone thought about the Mark Farina party. A
week or so before the party, I was unsure as to how much fun I was going to
have, due to all the talk and all the rumors flying around. When that happens,
a lot of time parties end up being more damn trouble than they are worth.
Socially and in regards to the vibe, I had a good time, it was good to see a
lot of you guys out. Muscially, I felt Mark was severley lacking (I got there
at 1am so I didn't hear Harvey or anyone else beforehand). The best example I
used when describing to someone else how the party was, was when I said, "Mark
played The Midas Touch. I am kind of ambivalent in general to that song. I
don't dislike it but I don't get excited to hear it. I would have no problem
hearing it at a different party under different circumstances, but if people
are being charged in the upwards of THIRTY DOLLARS for a party, I DON'T WANT TO
HEAR THE MIDAS FUCKING TOUCH." I want to hear some white labels from Timbuktu
or some shit I never even knew existed when being charged that and when going
to see Mark Farina. The rest of his set was kind of like that too, nothing too
bad nothing too great. Although he did play this one swing track that I had
never heard that dope as fuck and no one can complain about a MJ remix. I
understand the venue costs a grip and a half and so does Mark and the rest of
the line up, so I understand where the cost of the ticket was derrived from but
I do not think musically the party was worth $25-30. Which is a shame cuz I
wanted my pantaloons jazzed off, I was ready. But I still had a good time.
