gotta put my 2 cents in...

i've touched on this subject before... so here we go. i agree with ruh-son
below here, mostly. but if your coming to SF expecting the mad wharehouse
parties every weekend, or even more than one option for a party on any given
night, thats were LA is better. SF has the music, LA has the parties...

LA is mad spoiled, LA kids that is... the amount of parties, and locations
(that aren't bars/clubby) far surpasses SF. Here in SF, though the parties may
be less, we usually have to deal with rather tiny dancefloors, and rooms filled
with and strange (sometimes interesting) mix of crowd, mostly there to
socialize and get there drink on. for those who know me, i just want to dance,
and need room to do it. occasionally someone will come through and find a sick
loft spot, and thus a sick party will emerge. so as far as parties go... LA's
abundance of parties and locations wins on that end... plus not to mention,
more people in LA are usually there to dance! let me add though,... SF does
have the boat parties all summer long, that are mad fun. hell... it all evens
out in the end i guess

Now, the music itself, is a different story,(sometimes). SF definitely produces
a great amound and great quality of house music, thus, a lot of it gets played
out before it even hits the rest of the globe. LA does have a good amount of
music coming out of it, no doubt... but SF is more tighter knit, it seems when
it comes to the music. it seems a few of LA's recent producers of some good
music have moved away... not every one in SF is trying to be a dj and through
there own parties like LA... thats were a consistency in the quality of SF
house parties emerges as well... LA is waaay to competetive, to many people
trying to come up and do there own parties .. for money? for music? i dont
know.. but i must say, it can hurt a scene, the more it seems that LA promoters
don't work together in throwing parties...

bottom line, .. you know... you have to check it out. if your cool with lots of
smaller spots for more listening to house music and socializing.. no worries,
SF's got it, but don't expect bigger wharehouse parties every weekend as an
option. SF does appreciate its house music though...

oh. on the gay house scene... hmmm. i know theres plenty of spots to hit, but
the few spots that were predominantly gay house clubs, have become a lot more
diverse in it party goes. sunday nights at the end up.. party called devotion.
(fucking beautiful music!! deep soulful house) used to be a lot more of a gay
crowd, now its an even mixture. the same holds for a lot of other spots though.

another long winded speech on the LA vs. SF house scene.
