[Dynagroove] go see maestro

I thought the movie lacked a lot of history. There was no or very
little mention of the Muzic Box, the Warehouse, the Saint, Zanzibar, the
Sanctuary, Better Days, Studio 54, etc. It was NOT a great film IMHO.
Save yourself the money and get the "Love Saves The Day" book instead.
That is the correct and true history of dance music. Maestro was more
about people's war stories of the Garage and the Loft rather than in
depth knowledge on dance music. I couldn't tell if this was more about
people's glory days at the Garage and the Loft. Sure they were
important parties, but they weren't the only ones.

The after party was worse and it was horrible IMO. It was mostly the
"Hollywood" crowd that had no clue about the music. They were only
there to look cute and hopefully hook up with someone at the Ivar meat
market. I felt really bad for Marques cause Tony never showed up and
all the weight fell on Marques to carry the party. He did good and I
only wish things would have turned out better for him and all the
House-heads that showed up because of the movie as well as for Marques
and Tony. The first DJ was playing Hip-Hop until 12:20 or so. Finally,
Marques gets on around that time, but many people had already left
because nobody knew what was going on. This was an important night for
the dance music community and it was messed up. The promoters did not
do a good job on this at all.

Peace,

AD

hey all.

just a quick huge thanks to the people who made the premier and
afterparty for maestro happen. what a great movie...cant wait to see it
again. what a wonderfully rich history our music has.

and the partay afterwards was not to have the ol' stick shaken at it,
either, however hungover i might be today...

so yeah, support your local independent film maker, theatre, and house
music in general and go see this movie.
