OK I am going to get slammed for this, even though I am only speaking the truth...

how the hell are you going to hear D.C. with NO BASS and a sketchy soundsystem? that's really weak. why even bother bringing him out? are people that hard up to go to a shitty party just to hear D.C. play? it's not about just "getting DC in LA."

come on now. that's plain wrong.

solution? STOP SUPPORTING promoters who book "big name" DJs just for the money and start supporting the ones who are doing it for the love. if you can't prepare a soundsystem for DERRICK CARTER, you need to get out the house scene and go back to the hollywood scene where it doesn't matter what the music sounds like.

the only reason stuff like this KEEPS HAPPENING is because people support it...and notice it does KEEP happening, at the same clubs, with the same promoters.

sorry to rant but this sort of stuff is simply offensive, on so many levels.

jeez,

Last night was hard!!! No not the music. Playing was very hard. I
arrived to my surprise there was noone playing. I was told someone would
be playing 9:00 to 10. But no one was there DJing and a jungle CD was
playing. I started to set up but it was way too dark so it took me a good
10 minutes to track someone down to give me light. Once I got the light I
started to play. At first all was good. But within 20 minutes I started
to notice one table was sounding like crap. I switched needles as soon as
I could and low and behold the table still sounded like crap. The sound
guy came around and we swapped out tables and then that issue was fixed.
I started to bop a little and get into it. Just as I started to relax the
monitors went out. When I first started DJing I was not aloud to play
loud music because of my roomates would always bee sleeping. I learned to
mix in my earphones. This old talent came in very helpfull as the sound
crew scrambled around me trying to figure out what was wrong. Finally
they brought in an entirely new speaker and racked it up. So I played
some more traxx and then I hear this ugly horrid "Wrrrrp wrrrrp wrrrrp
wrrrp" that was blaring out from one of the speakers. It had blown. It
was on the left side of the dance floor so I figured I would just turn the
balance to the right annd keep playing. But the sound crew had set it up
mono and when I cut right it just cut the sound on the floor entirely.
*Shrug* and the show gioes on.

I came ready to throw down. I had been psyching myself up all week. I
really wanted to step up and jam some jams. Make an impression. Instead
I felt like I was hanging by a wire. I had fun and I made the best out of
it. My performance was sub par in my opinion. I apologize to you people
out there. I really think I could have played better. It was probably
one of the "hardest" (Hence the subject line) sets I have ever played.

On the opther had. I am glad all this crap happened to me. Because I
would have hated to see DC go through what I did. Looks like we ironed
out a lot of the wrinkles. DC rocked it. Even though there was no bass I
still think he played some amazing tracks and really showed us what that
chicago sound is. I love that sound I love those tracks and I love the
energy these chicago DJs tend to bring. I wouldd have liked a bit more
sound in there with some bass. But I am happy we actually got DC in LA!

I would like to thank the promoters for giving me the chance to open up
for one of the best. I would also like to thank them for bringing out the
best. I understand there are technical difficulties and I made the best
of it. It was over all a good night. I was just dissapointed I did not
step up to the plate like I wanted to. I hope to see the club bring DC
out again, I would love to open for him, or heather, or diz, or any other
chicago talent. Those are my favorites!

I leave for brazil tomorrow!!!! Woo hoo
