i moved to LA after all of cade's defining house moments in LA
even happened.
so, like others of you (especially amy), these are my personal
moments that made me realize the LA house scene was unique and different
from the east coast and the midwest...
*bare with me, i never remember the names of any party.
1. motion, june 1999...i came to LA and had to work the door
for this event under the guise that i wouldnt know anyone
showing up at the door claiming to be on the guest list. i was
blown away by all the dancers and the fun i had that night. i went
back to minnesota and moved to LA three months later.
2. dynagroove, april 2000...i am biased because unlike the
rest of you lucky shits this was my first diz at dynagroove experience.
i moved here shortly after the diz/king britt dynagroove...and all i heard
about was dynagroove this/dynagroove that...then i was at a dynagroove.
never in my life had i danced so hard.
3. attending some big ass rave out here. i think i went with amy,
brighton and hayley to an ONE event. whatever it was, this is when
i realized that LA raves were different from midwest raves, and
the likelihood of me attending another one was slim to none.
4. some event at club blue at the end of november 1999. i got really
drunk. the first and last time i puked at a club (i also got tossed
out)...this was my first time hearing diz and it blew my mind...i was
helping flyer for the next dynagroove and offered one to jamie thinnes,
who informed me he knew about the party since he was playing. i felt very
foolish. this always reminds me of how far i have come in being a dj whore
(AND so much more knowledgeable about the music!!) this might have been
two different events and i mushed them together. hrmmmmm....
5. solid gold...i have never had so much fun...and i think this event
shows how successful collaborative efforts between different promotional
groups really can be.
...and on a personal note...my own first party...when i realized just how
much love and support there is in the LA house scene.
