I think Zack hit it right on the head.
the promoters of house need to try to concentrate on the youth.
some of the reasons the smaller parties were getting so big back in the
day ( ie melodic with 2000 heads) was because of the massives and all age
events that were putting doc, roger s, sneak, mark and others on the main
stages.
and basically shoving house down their throat.
We have to teach the kids what is cool and if no one promotes to them they
will never know about deep soulful house or any other form of house except
for maybe some progressive stuff.
A lot of the promoters these days dont even hit up the massives anyomre to
try and get some of their crowd. in my opinion, that is a bad idea.
They are the new kids with all the new hype.
I am making a valiant effort to put house back on the main stage again and
I wish some others would try to do the same thing.
or at least, do all ages or 18+ events and promote to the new kids. not
the ones who already know whats up.
people who are 29-31 years old can barely go out anyways, and they
definitely dont bring the energy(sorry if i am talking about you, whoever
you are :).
Promote the new energy and all the small house parties will be more off
the hook and more people might show up.
my 2 cents.
I dont think house is dying, but i do think we need some new blood.
peace
