I rarely post and even more rarely post review especially if I have nothing
nice to say. Was not going to attend as I had a pretty good idea what to
expect, but thought don't be so stuck up have fun with friends (whom were
promptly lost)
Ok got there early 6:00 line management was in the hole and I finally made
it in at 9:30
At that point went up to the balcony with a friend who was working the
party. Within 15 minutes a security Guard (one of the event staff in a
yellow jacket) tried to jack my friend. He was not concerned with what was
going on just wanted to jack. Don't know how to put it otherwise. Mr.
security guard got his ass kicked in the shadows.
Sound system: MASSIVE -REDICULOUS- in the sense that if I was at a rock
concert it would have been awesome. But being a sound guy this was the worst
huge system I've ever heard. It was a rock concert system. Not a massive or
club system. No low frequency effects. No compression. PURE HIGH FREQ at a
million watts to cut your brain.
Music: I think I heard every single shitty euro electro POP DANCE mash up
ever made. I'm a minimal tech house head so appreciate progression. But come
on progress. I felt like I was listening to the same Christina Aguilera or
Britney remix over and over and over and over again. No story whatsoever, no
taking you places, the dj was obviously very taken with himself on every
stage and forgot to play something different. I should of known when looking
at the line up
Which brings me to the lineup. Wow could you of booked any shadier for such
a large scale event. No concern for good music just big commercial dummies.
Who probably got paid too much when they could have booked wicked talent for
much cheaper. Even the local commercial heroes would of done
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy better.
Kids on drugs. AHAHAHAHA. As entertaining as they can be. 80,000 kids who
can't handle drugs on more than they have ever done in their life, really
annoying. Jumping bouncing sweaty shirtless (sounds chill?) just plowing
into you, stumbling. Huge women freaking the ghetto of LA everywhere.
Drinks ranged from 5 dollars for a bottle of water to 10 dollars for a can
of Coors light.
I witnessed Gluttony and Greed and so many levels I can't describe.
Definitely losing at least a little sleep over what I saw from the promotion
and the crowd. I understand the scene and the massive scene very well and
don't think anything is killing anything and I don't think anything is
dead. But man these greedy mo fos are sure making it hard for us to teach
the next generation what it's all about because they really are innocent.
Which was obvious by the amount of ignorance.
I want those hours of my life back.
p.s. a really real party where im likely going to lose my ass
