Ok...as many of you know i'm not a fan of massive events, but i'm going
to defend Monster Massive in this case. I just feel like they were being
picked on here...
70-80 thousand people is a LOT Of people to get in no matter how hard
you plan for it. With like 500 people for farina it took a lot of people
about 30 minutes to get in...granted they had a LOT more people working
the door and a lot more entrances, but still i think you gotta cut em a
little slack here. I'm not saying 3.5 hours is justified, but it's gotta
be super difficult getting that many people inside a spot quickly.
No comment on the staff member, can't defend something i don't know
about completely
Sound system was almost definitely not the sound guy's fault...i'm
saying 99% of the time it's an idiot DJ Cranking the mids and highs
because they are super deaf. And sound systems should NOT have
compression on them if they are playing back pre-recorded music (it's
already way too compressed). I'm assuming it was a Vertech Line array
system and those things are rock concert sound systems, but you don't
have a lot of options when trying to fill up an arena with sound
Music...you said yourself you should have known better when you looked
at the lineup. I think the people that went to this event knew what they
wanted and this event delivered. Weather or not it was your cup of tea
(clearly not) is different. You can't expect to go to one of these and
hear underground artists nobody's ever heard before, this is a major
major event and it's purpose is to generally make money. Local
commercial artists wouldn't have the draw a lot of these other artists
did...thus them making more money.
It's a Rave...Kids are going to be on drugs...you had to know that
Drink prices...do you complain when you go to a movie, Disneyland or the
baseball game? Shit is stupid expensive when people will pay for it.
Supply and demand, what are you gonna do, they are just trying to make
their money. If people stopped going to disneyland because food prices
were too expensive, i guarantee they would lower food prices, but that's
not the case here. Monster Massive attendance has grown an insane amount
every year and they will charge what they can get for concessions.
That's like saying somebody who went to disneyland and spent thousands
of dollars on just a few days including hotels and stuff that their kids
will never have an imagination. This is capitalism and while i don't run
my club with a strong motivation to make money (I have money, i just
really enjoy the club), it's not a bad thing that they are. They are
providing a legitimate event that people like and demand (over the past
few years it has grown a tremendous amount). I'm glad these events
exist, because they DO show younger kids something other than what's on
MTV and it does give us a chance to expose them to these different
sub-genres of dance music we love.
Anyways, i'm not saying it's my cup of tea (you didn't see me there),
but i can see how a lot of people can really enjoy it and I'm glad they
are doing it and have been successful with finances while doing an event
tens of thousands of people enjoy.
